Ask Reece – What gas to use and installation times

Dear Reece,

How long will it take to fit my fireplace?

Yours,

Ms I.M. Patient

Dear Ms I.M. Patient

The length of time that it takes to install a fire all depends on how much work is required. Often if you are having a qualified installer come round to do a survey then they should be able to advise you as to how long it would take.

Typically most jobs take one day to complete, but you are best off speaking with your installer who will be able to give you a clearer indication of time scales involved.

It is also worth noting that many installers have a waiting list for booking installations and depending upon the time of year this can vary from one week to three months in the height of the heating season (September to January), so if you are planning a project and need something completed within a certain time please factor these timescales in.

Dear Reece,

I’m thinking about buying a gas fire. What gas does a gas fire use?

Yours,

Pro Pane

Dear Pro Pane,

flavel-thurcroft-gas-stoveGas fires typically burn one of two types of gas, either natural mains gas which is piped into the house from the grid, or if natural gas is not available then many products can be run on LPG gas bottles or cylinders. All of our gas fires listed on our website state if they are suitable for natural (mains) gas or LPG gas.

Yours,

Reece
