To get the most out of your stove you need to understand the value of the presence of oxygen in your firebox, and how the air control system helps maintain a good burn. Too much oxygen and your stove will burn through fuel too quickly, too little and you’ll end up with a smoldering fire that isn’t burning cleanly.
The issue deepens when you try to give ‘general advice’ on how to use a stove’s air control system simply because there are so many different types out there.
To give you the best chance of understanding how air gets to the flames we put together a short video on the various air control systems different stoves use, as well as introduce you to the terminology.
